Lavender Fields Alpacas
Today I’d like to share a little raw fiber love and introduce you to Lavender Fields Alpacas, from right here in Colorado. Established in 2002, they breed and raise these gorgeous creatures, harvesting their fleece, which they sell raw, as roving, batting, or yarn. Meet a few of their sires and see a sampling of their raw fleece:
Aren’t they beautiful!? I just want to go cuddle with one – especially Lancaster! Alpaca fiber is pretty exceptional stuff. Naturally hypoallergenic and both warmer than wool and yet still breathable, it is an excellent choice for babies and those with sensitive skin. It’s said to be the warmest fiber on earth and as fluffy and soft as it can be, it’s certainly hard to resist! Of course so are these adorable crias:
Lavender Fields Alpacas will be one of many special guests at the 3rd Annual Spring Spectacular Yarn Event on June 3rd in Denver on the NE Corner of Larimer St and 17th St, so be sure to come out and stop by their table!!
